You know the 3 little pigs? Of course two of the pigs built homes out of straw and sticks and we know how that turned out. (Yes, the big bad wolf blew them over because they weren't well made... but over time they would have deteriorated, been infested with bugs, collected mold, and possibly even burned down anyway).
As we all know, the 3rd little pig built his house out of bricks - and we like to think they were stabilized compressed earth blocks made of a specific mixture of sand, dirt and clay. Lucky for THIS pig, his house was fire resistant, mold resistant, insect resistant and more...plus green, green, green with great energy efficiency naturally built in - reducing heating and cooling costs and making for a happy pig.
So what's the point? Dirt is in. Wood is out. That's the word from experts across the world who say we can't continue to chop down trees to build buildings. Simply put, it's not a sustainable, energy efficient way to go.
